Time for New Years Resolutions! We pick the start of a new year as a new beginning; a time to end bad habits, mend fences, lose weight, and improve our health. Resolve to do something that you’ve always known you should do. Resolve to floss! It’s easy to do and can make a difference. Flossing is important to the health of your teeth and gums, your overall health, and saves you money in lower dental bills.
I want you to floss BEFORE you brush. Why BEFORE? Well, everybody learns to brush their teeth when they’re very young, and when you finish brushing, you feel “done”. It takes another whole decision to floss your teeth, and they already feel minty clean. Most people will just think “I’ll do it tomorrow”, or “I’m just too tired”, or “I don’t have time right now.” But if you floss first, you won’t feel done after you’ve flossed, and you will go ahead and brush.
So here’s the important part: Tie a piece of floss around your brush handle. When you pick up your toothbrush tonight, look at the floss, roll your eyes, set your toothbrush back down and floss your teeth first.
